Beat the Heat Makeup Ideas! - Face edition

Holly hotness! Talk about heat wave! I love this weather but your makeup may not.  It's only natural that your body reacts with sweat to help keep you cool, but it doesn't mean your makeup has to wash away with it. So enjoy a few easy tips to keep your face in check.

Take time to prime. Yes, this simple step helps prolong foundation and keeps color rich.  All you need is about a pea-size amount of this lightweight serum to cover your whole face.  Things to consider when deciding which primer to use (yes, there are many to choose from), what does your skin need?  Is your skin oily or more mature? Prone to breakouts or really sensitive? My favorite brand, Cover Fx, actually addresses these needs. It's a two-in-one deal for awesome makeup and fabulous skin.

Where being dense finally pays off, upgrade your lightweight liquid formula to a cream instead.  Under normal conditions this formula is better for dry skin but a liquid concealer won't be able to withstand the heat as long. It's still really important to pick highly pigmented formulas, that way you will not need a lot to cover up blemishes or dark circles.  I personally have a palette from Coastal Scents and it's a lot more affordable than you think, but a really, really, really great buy is MAC's Studio Sculpt Concealer. This formula gives full coverage with a matte finish AND wait for it... WATER RESISTANT!

This may seem odd, but for those of you who wear full face foundation try a silicone base. Why silicone? Simple, it acts like a barrier between your skin and makeup so less possibilities of humidity hitting your face and smearing that lovely makeup or running down your face.  I honestly don't like the idea of wearing a full face of foundation on any day, minus photo shoots or for special occasions, but I understand that sometimes you just want that full coverage.  Giorgi Armani's Silk Foundation will cost you a pretty penny, but a lot of bloggers love the finish and the fact that it does not cause breakouts (considering silicone base products normally do).

A great way to ensure that you don't put too much foundation on, opt for a sponge applicator that is slightly damp.  It helps foundation go on lightly, meaning less to slide off your face.  All you need is a few drops of water on the sponge, squeeze out the excess water and it is ready to use.
